This week has been a busy one! Monday was library check out. We learned about ways to take care of books. We also used shelf markers to keep our place while we are checking out a book. Next week, we will check out on Tuesday because we don't have school on Monday. Please send books back on Tuesday.
We read a funny book about crocodiles in the water called “Counting Crocodiles”. A monkey counts crocodiles and uses them to get across the sea to the banana tree. We helped the monkey count to 10! We used pattern blocks to make patterns. Check out some of our work!

We played a game called count and sit. We counted around the circle from one to ten. We pass our math mascot, (who we named sparkle today) around the circle. When it came to you, you said one number. If you were the person that said ten, you sat down. We played down until there was only one person left. Check out the last one standing!
We are learning about how to draw
people. We are thinking about the shapes
that make up faces and bodies. Our people
turned out great! Next week we will work
on adding details to our bodies and grounding our people so they do not
fly. We will talk about using drawings
to tell a story.
Our reading skill for the week is pointing
to each word as we say it. We read a
book together on the projector called, “Little”. Several of us took a turn at the board to
point to each word. Everyone got little copy of
the book to keep in book boxes. Then
we used those books and ABC charts to read quietly to ourselves and practice pointing to the
words and letters.
We also learned how to read books with a friend. We took turns pointing to the words on each page or the letters on our ABC chart.
Lenny is a hit! We got him out and let him walk around our
carpet. Friends helped him back to
his spot. Each of us got a chance to
hold him if we wanted to. Then we talked
about our five senses. We made observations
using those senses. We did talk about
how we can’t smell him (most of the time!) and we definitely wouldn’t taste
him! Here are some of our
observations.
Some of our friends have mentioned wanting to bring him crickets so, I decided to make a sign up genius for crickets. If you would like to be the cricket keeper for the week, please sign up using the link below. Please don't feel like you have to, I can definitely get the crickets too but I know it can be fun to bring food for our pet.

We also had a visit from our Counselor and learned about what the counselors job is in our school. She used a potato head to talk through her jobs!

Take home folders are up and
running! Please keep these in your child’s
backpack and check it daily. This is a great place to send me notes too as we check it daily!
·
If you have a dismissal change
please, send a note in the take home folder.
It would also be helpful if you notified the office as well. They will get a message to me and it will
ensure that your child is going home the correct way. I do have email but sometimes I am not able
to check it right away. We are a busy group and I don't often get a minute to check!
