Monday Funday!

Today we had a day that was anything but normal!  When we arrived we had some beautiful pumpkins in our cubbies!  Thank you to our friend Stella and her family for helping us celebrate fall.  These cute little pumpkins will be sent home at the end of the month!

Even Lenny got one!

We had a guest in our room this morning.  We welcomed Mrs. Cardetti.  Mrs. Cardetti is from the gifted center.  She will come three times this year to do creativity lessons with our class.  This morning was our first.  Ask your child to tell you how he or she turned his or her nothing into something.

Right after this we went to our polling place.  Today we voted in the Beulah Ralph mascot primary election.

This afternoon, we had Mrs. Fitch come during our regular math time to teach us how to use our iPads for a math app called ST Math.  Later this week, I can send some information home for you in case you would like to use this app at home too.

After this, we had a sub!  I am getting Lasik this week (Yippee!) so I was out today for an appointment this afternoon and will be out again on Thursday for surgery.  I have a follow up Friday morning but should be back pretty quick.   They assured me that I will be ready to be back to school on Friday!  This is the first time I have been gone, so I left detailed instructions!  Hopefully all goes well!

General Announcements:
Don't forget tomorrow is picture day!  I look forward to seeing your kiddos dressed in their best!

In other news...  In the beginning of the year, our class was participating in the math program to help our district choose new math curriculum materials for next year.  In an early Friday Folder, I sent a letter explaining it a bit further.  For the math program, I was required to be at several meetings with other teachers in the district.  Many of our work days that we would've been together as a school, I would've been away working on the math program.  We felt that it would be best for our class if we used the current materials instead of the math program materials for this school year.  This way I am able to collaborate with my team members.  So if you put a math night at Russell on your calender, this no longer applies to us.  We are loving working on the same units as the other kindergarteners!
