Busy week in kindergarten! We added some new literacy tasks to our reading time. We added alphabet puzzles, word work games and write the room. Our word work games will focus on making words, and practicing our word wall words. For write the room, the kids use a clip board and go around the room and write words that they find. Sometimes it will be from our chart and sometimes there will be some special words hiding depending on what we are learning. Everyone thought that task was great fun.
We also practiced our fine motor skills by cutting snowflakes and creating a paper collage mural. For our mural we talked about things we observe outside in the winter. Then I put out some paper and let them create! The kids could only use paper, scissors and glue with a little pencil to help them make their shapes to be cut. I was blown away by the results. Our kids worked so hard to create their masterpieces. There was tons of perseverance happening all around.
Our math focus was counting this week. We worked on making sure that we say one number for each object. Our small group focus was counting bags of objects and at large group we learned a new game called Tic Tac Teen. This game practiced number recognition, counting one to one as well as counting numbers on a tens frame for numbers in the teens.
We did a lot of practice in reading and writing this week. We are working on drawing and writing for readers. We all have messages to share and we want our readers to enjoy reading our true stories.
Congrats to our Citizen of the month. My girl was Citizen too!

love it! it amazes me of just how much information their little brains can absorb!
