Lots of Science Fun!

Friday, October 6, 2017
This week we did something new.  Mrs. Fitch from the library came to our classroom each morning to teach us science.  We are learning all about our amazing bodies.  We learned about the structure and function of many of our body parts like bones, muscles, lungs and stomach!  We enjoyed taking a break from our regular morning routines to do some science.

On day one, we learned about lots of body parts that are inside our bodies.  We did a body puzzle to see where they all go.

On day 2 we did centers to learn about our lungs, muscles, stomach and bones.

On the third day we learned about the bones in our hands.
We put together hand puzzles to see how many bones we have in our hands.

The next day we had 30 seconds to see how many Legos we could put on a Lego plate.
Then we used tape around three of our fingers to make it like we only have one straight bone in our fingers.

Then we had another 30 seconds to use the taped hand to see how many Legos we could put on.

We learned that we need lots of bones in our fingers so that we can move our hands and grab things easily!

On our final day we designed a cast that would help a person heal their broken wrist.  We learned that it needed to be light weight, water resistant, strong and comfortable.  Check out some of our amazing casts!

Here are our learning objectives for the week:
Fundations:  letter formation, sound and name D & S

Science:  Understanding the structure & Function of many human body parts.
Math:  Counting, using a 5s frame, and 10s frame.  Looking closely at circles.

We had an assembly from Delta Dental.  They came and taught us about the importance of brushing our teeth.

Happy birthday friend!  Thanks for sharing treats!

Indoor recess didn't stop our fun!

A note from Mrs. Wright:
There will be no comments in the Friday checklists this week.  We will be doing comments every other week but there will be behavior marks every week.  If there is a concern, I will make a comment.  On the weeks there are no comments, the kindergarten team newsletter will come home.
