22 Days of school left...

Friday, April 20, 2018

As I wrote the title of this blog post, I could hardly believe it as I typed.  22 days...  It might be because it still feels like winter.  It might be because this year has completely flown.  I have no idea how we got here so quickly.  That said, we still have lots of learning to do!  In the next few weeks we've got lots of fun things coming up.  Next Tuesday we will go to the planetarium.  Next Wednesday we will spend the morning working on our service learning project making clipboards for the kindergarten classes at Kohfeldt.  The week after that we will be learning doing a week long science unit with Mrs. Fitch that will take up most of our morning.  With all this in mind, this weekend will be the last weekend for reading bags.  The kids have two books this time.  We worked really hard on retelling this week so make sure to have them close the book and retell the story including all the parts in order from beginning to end.  Encourage them to use the characters names in their retelling.

Here are our learning objectives for the week:
Reading:  Retelling with details using character names
Writing:  Writing opinions with an opening statement, three reasons to support your opinion and a closing.
Math:  understanding teen numbers, shapes within shapes, flexibly combining numbers
Science:  Understanding living, non-living and dead

Here are some pictures from our week!

Our bee bulletin board turned out lovely!

Happy Birthday friend!  Thanks for sharing treats!

Last week we learned about bugs.  This week we made some!  They are awesome!

Wednesday is counselor day!

Cutting out books to go on our clipboards for Kohfeldt.

We made list of living things.

We used magazines to cut out pictures of living and non-living things.

We got a great new puzzle!
