My how we've aged!

We had a super fun day celebrating the 100th day of school.  We did lots of fun activities surrounding the number 100. We made hats with 100 things on them and we made necklaces with 100 fruit loops.  But the most fun of all was having Mrs. Wrong come to teach that day!  No one was quite sure what to make of 100 year old Mrs. Wrong.  :)

There will be no reading bags this week.  In our reading groups, we've focused heavily on skills the past couple of weeks.   Once we get through a week with no late start or snow day we will be able to get both skills and books into a week!

On February 14 we will be passing out valentines.  This is a great way for kids to practice writing and reading each others names.  Everyone enjoys being the mailman and passing them out.  In the Friday folder, you will find a list of kids names.  It might be a good idea to have your child fill them out a few each night until then as to not overwhelm him/her.  We will make valentine bags here so you won't need to make a box at home.

Next Wednesday is Global School play day.  This will be an awesome experience for our kiddos.  We will play the whole day!  The only catch is that there are no electronic toys.  your child may bring a game or toy from home as long as it isn't electronic and it isn't a weapon type toy.  I am so excited to enjoy the day with our kids!

Here are this week's objectives:
Reading:  Cross checking the picture and the word, learning the sight word can, tapping to read
Writing:  Tapping to spell, looking at non-fiction books to see how they are different from fiction.  Next week we will begin writing our own non-fiction books.
Math:  Solving story problems and showing how you know on paper.
Fundations:  segmenting and blending words, (we call this tapping because we tap our fingers for each sound)
