Super Spellers and More

Saturday, January 13, 2018
Wow!  I am absolutely amazed at how well our kiddos did on the spelling bee.  Many of them got over 20 words correct.  They truly blew me away.  We will celebrate our top two spellers at our citizen of the month assembly.  I will let you by email if that is your child. And even better than the celebration is the fact that we have all acquired new words very quickly.  I have noticed immediately that this has helped during writing and also for quick recall for reading.  Thank you so much for all of your efforts at home.  It really paid off.

Here are our learning objectives for the week.
Reading:  Describing characters in books read aloud, using the picture and cross checking the first letter to solve unknown word
Writing:  Saying words slowly and writing all the sounds we hear
Math:  Looking for shapes in our environment, solving story problems on paper
Fundations:  Letter formation upper case letters, segmenting and blending 3 letter words

Having fun in the library

Indoor recess story yoga

Going on a shape hunt.  We recorded the shapes we found.  Check the Friday folder to see what shapes your child found.

Mrs. Fitch came to teach us about Osmo.  We will begin using these next week during Daily 5.

These two are retelling a story we have read using stuffed animals.

Our darling fall bulletin board is out of date.  We worked on transforming it into a winter bulletin board.  The new board will be revealed next week!

Here's our special me answering questions about herself.
