I am so grateful for full weeks of school. We are able to get so much more done and the kids are loving the return to routine. This week we were able to get in all of our rounds of Daily 5 which hasn't happened since January!
Everyone got a new reading group book this week. Weekend reading bags are in backpacks. Thank you so much to everyone who signed the form. If you child reads the book more than once, you don't have to keep signing it. We will use this paper hopefully until the end of the year. One family kept a tally of how many times the book was read and I loved that idea too. The kids were excited to tell me about who they read their book to.
Here are our learning objectives for the week:
Reading: segmenting and blending nonsense words, introduction to contractions, reading for punctuation, non-fiction text features
Writing: Using diagrams in our work. Anchoring our writing to the lines, Writing facts using the words can, are, have to help us.
Math: 3D shapes, adding numbers to 12, ordering numbers, understanding teen numbers
Sorting words into word families
Using double tens frames to understand that teens are 10 + another number
After that we write letters to them and draw pictures.
