This week was super busy! We had a visit from a Fire fighter and saw a fire truck Monday, a fire prevention assembly and counselor Tuesday , a stop and think lesson Wednesday, our fabulous field trip on Thursday and on Friday we decorated our pumpkins. Phew! What a week!
Here are our learning objectives:
Reading: one to one correspondence, finding words we know in the text
Writing: Personal Narrative, word spaces, using an ABC chart to help us write sounds.
Math: counting backwards, identifying shapes and their attributes
Fundations: correct letter formation, d, s. We learned that c turns into a d. This will help students with reversals.
Social Skills: I can keep the bathroom clean. Oh yes, we worked hard on this!
Here is our week in pictures!
We had a special visitor! One of our friend's dad is a fireman and he came to teach us about what he does!
We got to get in a fire truck too! These fire fighters got called away on a call right as we were watching. They came back after the call to let us all have a chance to go through the truck.
Sorting coins. We had some creative ways to sort. Kids sorted by size, color, and even by picture on the back.
Using goldfish to help us count backwards. Yum!

Stop and Think lesson: We learned about following directions. Here we are dancing to a song in which following directions was important.
Sentence Puzzles
Identifying Rectangles
And we're off! Peach Tree Farms here we come!
We enjoyed Cosmo park too! It turned out to be a beautiful day.
We were worn out!
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers! They even had our pumpkins in our cubbies by the time we got back to school.
Making fire trucks using shapes. We identified square, oval, rectangle, circle and trapezoid.
Decorating pumpkins. I love this picture of these two! They were really working together.
It was a great week! As you can see by our faces we are done! Have a great weekend!
Things to Remember:
- Beginning this week, checklists will have comments every other week unless needed. On the weeks that you do not have a comment you will receive a kindergarten newsletter to give you more information about what we are doing.
- Several friends are forgetting their daily snack. If you would like to send a big box for your child to keep in his or her cubby that would be great. Then they will always know they have one.
- We have library on Tuesdays! Please return your child's book that morning so they can bring home a new one.
- October 16 - Early Dismissal At 12:50
- October 26 - Fall Parties 2:30 - 3:00
