Lots of thing coming up!

We have lots of things coming up that require participation outside of school.  As a parent, I need a list to help me remember!  So here is one for you too.  

• Listen to your child read his/her reading group book this weekend.  Return it Monday for a treat!
• Global School Play Day - February 5
• Bring a toy or game - No electronic toys or battery operated toys
• 100th Day of School - February 6th - 
• Dress like you are 100 years old!  We will do lots of fun 100s day activities.  
• Your child has a small bag in their Friday Folder.  Fill it with 100 tiny things and we will hang it on our bulletin board outside our classroom.
• PTA Circus - February 7 @ 4:30
• Thank you to all who donated to our basket!  It is going to be awesome!  
• You can pre-order wristbands.  15$ for the first wristband and $10 for each additional.  
• Valentine Parties - February 13
• Bring valentines addressed by your child to school as early as February 12.  We will make bags at school.  No boxes needed.
• If you signed up to help with party supplies send them in anytime!  

Learning Objectives:

Reading:  Finding sight words in books, retelling, distinguishing between b, d, p, q

Writing:  Non-Fiction,  what are we experts on, telling true facts

Math:  Solving story problems

Fundations:  Reading & Writing CVC words, writing words with tricky sounds, y, w, z, v

Each morning we take a minute to make sure everyone has a morning greeting.  This morning we did something called, "switch spots hello".  Ask your child to tell you how we do it.

Two Short Weeks

The past couple weeks have been crazy with snow days!  We still managed to get lots of good learning in.  We have a few things coming up for you to keep in mind. 

• This weekend I emailed a valentine list.  We will be passing out valentines on February 13.  Please allow your child to fill out their valentines.  It's great handwriting practice.  :)  

• The PTA circus is coming right up.  This is a great fundraiser for our school.  Our PTA supplies us with lots of things including classroom grants, playground equipment, field trips and many more.  Please consider having your child sell raffle tickets to help raise money for this great organization.  Our classroom raffle basket is "Camping".  You should have received a sign up genius about this.  Here is the link again if you need it.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b49aaae22a7fa7-classroom2  We still need lots of things to make our basket great!  These baskets really help our fundraising efforts.  Please consider donating to this.   Your child can bring your items anytime.  Thanks!

• Global School Play Day - On Wednesday February 5, we will celebrate Global School Play Day.  On this day we will play all day!  Your child is encouraged to bring a toy from home.  It may not be battery operated or electronic.  Just a good old fashioned toy.   More information will come home in the Friday Folder.

• With the two snow days our 100th day of school will be changed.  Currently the 100th day of school falls on February 5.  However we play to celebrate on February 6 due to Global School Play Day.  We dress up like 100 year old people and do lots of fun activities surrounding 100.  I hope your child will want to participate in the dress up fun!  Here is a picture of some of my students from last year for ideas.  

Two week's objectives:
Reading:  Sight words:  and, there are, attending to print
Writing:  Writing mechanics, writing a complete sentence about something we have done.   We also took our writing assessment this week.  They did awesome! 
Fundations:  Reading and writing CVC words. 
Math:  Exploring penny and dime, quick lots at dots on a tens frame, drawing shapes

 We'd like to welcome our new friend!  We are so glad you are here.  

Thank you to PTA for our wonderful grant!  We got these cool seats to add to our carpet area.  These kiddos found some great ways to play with them too.
