Busy Little Bees

We've continued to build our routines this week.  We started our week learning about bees.  They loved it so much that we colored lots of bees during our quiet time each day.  We were busy little bees this week!  We made a couple class books to help us learn each other's names.  We learned about counting, and skip counting.  We played counting games and made shapes with pattern blocks.  We learned that at Beulah Ralph the students are kind, respectful, responsible, positive problem solvers.  We learned what it means to be kind and responsible this week.  Then we made paper collage heads to show that we promise to do these things.  Next week we will learn about the other traits too.

Here are our learning objectives for the week:
Reading:  Using our finger to point to the text as we read. (one to one matching)
Writing: How to write the date, how to draw people
Math: Looking for numbers, matching length, shapes, counting
Fundations: t, b, f  - Letter name, letter sound, correct letter formation.  Many of our kiddos already know lots of letters and sounds.  We learn how to clip the sounds and also how to form the letters the kindergarten way.  Clipping the sounds means that we say the ssssss instead of suh.  or a short t sound instead of tuh.

Our week in pictures:

Morning meeting in the gym.  We will do this every Monday morning!

Library check out.  When we have Monday off, we will check out on Thursdays.

Matching lengths to find a partner.

Partners found.  Now we shared a little about ourselves!

We learned about our birthdays.  We each made a cake to tell when our birthday is.  These will hang on our wall.

We had our first severe weather drill.  Check out how awesome we are!

Name Puzzles.  We counted the letters in our name and made a class book.

We had our first counselor lesson.  This is Mrs. Davison.

Playing a counting game.

This is Ms. Sutton.  She will be with us on Wednesdays for the next five weeks.  She is a student at Mizzou!

We've earned 20 stars for making good choices!  We enjoyed an extra recess on a beautiful day.

Learning about pointing to words when we read them.

Making the letter f the kindergarten way.

Drawing people!

We went on a number hunt.  We found numbers everywhere!

Just a little cutie being cute.  :)

Paper collage self portraits.

They turned out awesome!

 We played a counting game.

 Here is our winner!

These two both wanted the same toy.  They are playing rock paper scissors to decide who can use it today.

This little one loves her animals!
