Highlight reel week 20

Sunday, January 29, 2017
We are rocking and rolling in kindergarten!  We've been learning a ton about measurement.  This week we began to learn about weight as a measure.  We explored balances and learned how to tell which weighs more.  The first day, with our partner, we chose random objects in the room to see which was heavier.  The second day, we worked with a partner to weigh specific objects to decide which weighs more.  This was one engaging lesson!  Everyone was excited about their discoveries.

We have been looking at what good kindergarten writing looks like.  We will be doing our writing assessment this week so we focused on exactly what we need to do to be a good kindergarten writer.  We began by discussing what kindergarten writers can do.  And we ended our lesson looking at an example of one of our students work and discussing what made it great.  Check it out!

We also tried out some of these things together during interactive writing.  We focused on word spaces and punctuation and writing neatly.

We used our book box books to buddy read.  Not only is it fun to read with friends but it helps us practice fluency and work together to figure out words we don't know.

Congrats to our citizen of the month and our class spelling bee winners!  We are proud of you!   Thank you for helping by voting for citizen of the month at home!

Career day was so much fun!  Everyone was excited to share what they want to be when they grow up.  Can you guess what we want to be?

This friend wasn't feeling well but he participated from home!
